was privileged to play and sing with two of the finalists in the Freedman Jazz Fellowship held at the Sydney Opera House in 2010. Firstly performing with Guitarist Ben Hauptmann and secondly, singing with the group Invenio, led by Melbourne based singer / composer Gian Slater.

Hauptmann was the eventual winner and used the prize to fund his self titled album released early in 2012.

Damien felt incredibly grateful to be involved with two of only four groups in the finals.

UK and Europe

Damien went to the UK to discover a little of his family heritage and met many new relatives. After two months of travelling around the UK he settled in Bristol for a month, playing a few gigs with Mr Woodnote, Lil' Rhys and Eva Lazarus.  He then had the opportunity to play in Amsterdam, which he followed up with a trip to Istanbul where he played Turkish music and then onto Paris... where he played Jazz on a showboat. Returning from overseas, Damien is now based in Canberra and getting back to work on writing his own music, doing music production, playing gigs and teaching.
