Damien Slingsby

Is a professional Pianist, Vocalist and Accompanist. He has a Bachelor of Music (Jazz Studies) and is a graduate of the Australian National University (ANU).

Some highlights of Damien's past few years include performing at the 2011 Glastonbury Music Festival;

  • playing with Ethiopian jazz musician and composer, Mulatu Astake;
  • performing at festivals and venues in Germany, France, Turkey, Ethiopia and the UK;
  • regular performances at Bennetts Lane in Melbourne and at the Wangaratta Jazz Festival. 

He has also worked as a session keyboardist and vocalist for a number of commercial recordings in a variety of ensembles and projects and in an eclectic mix of genres.

Damien has been teaching Jazz and Contemporary Piano and Voice for over a decade. His method includes physiology and technique, psychology of performance, developing musicality, advanced improvisation skills, writing original compositions and arrangements and developing a professional repertoire and work ethic. He is currently teaching privately, at the ANU, and at the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT).

Damien is also a Musical Director with his last role undertaken for the theatre company Dramatic Productions stage production 'After Five Years', directed by Richard Block. He is currently rehearsing their next production 'Into the Woods'.

He is also available to assist you with your music production and has an Advanced Certificate in Music Production with Apple Logic®.
